Project Overview
FM 676 (McAllen) — State Highway Improvement
Also known as Mile 5, this project expanded FM 676 in McAllen from a two-lane roadway into a 4-lane divided highway built to handle growing regional traffic and improve safety for commuters and freight across west Hidalgo County.
Work began with comprehensive grading to prepare the widened alignment, followed by a lime-treated subgrade to stabilize the soils common to the Valley floodplain. A flexible base was installed to carry the new loads, and the roadway surface was paved with durable asphaltic concrete.
The result is a modern divided corridor that better connects Taylor Rd. and Ware Rd. — part of the growing Texas Cordia portfolio along the FM 676 corridor.
